So by this logic a shadow clone shouldnt be able to replicate clothing either, therefore boruto should be attacking fully naked his opponents.

my current guess is there's a complexity threshold on the clones meaning the clones can copy basic things like clothing or basic ninja tools (kunai, shuriken, swords, etc.) but can't copy a mechanical gauntlet or anything mechanical for that matter. my head cannon for why is that the shadow clone jutsu was created several hundred years ago and was never intended to copy anything to complex because nothing that complex even existed back then.
